The practice of 108 Salutations is an individual journey and can have different meanings for everyone. You do not have to complete all 108 sun salutations. Pausing to rest or reflect is acceptable and encouraged.
The practice for me is about devotion (Bhakti), honour/service (Seva) and strength/effort/zeal (Tapas). It’s an opportunity to honour and celebrate the physical, mental and spiritual benefits of the sun and its journey, and how it sustains and nourishes all beings. The movements are deliberate and liberating as you become more in tune with your breath and the breath of everyone else around you. You remain present in each movement, letting every moment come and go with each inhale and exhale.
It is an opportunity to pause, to listen, to feel the earth under our feet and hands, and to infuse the practice with meaning.
