Pelvic floor yoga focuses on building strength and stabilization of the pelvic floor while bringing awareness to the area & the surrounding muscle groups, through strategic breathing, stretching and movement exercises.
It is common for individuals with pelvic floor tightness to experience tension in surrounding areas such as their hips, low back, and even spread to their knees all the way to the feet, and/or up to the neck and jaw.
In many cases, individuals with pelvic floor dysfunction, carry both hypertonic (tense) and hypotonic (loose) muscles in their pelvic floor. Therefore to work on strengthening the pelvic floor, we need to balance stretching and strengthening with relaxation.
In this 3 hour workshop we will:
*Learn the anatomy of the pelvic floor, core muscles, and the all important relationships they, and our breath have to play in our maintained pelvic floor stability and health.
*Learn mindful breathing practices that help us deepen the full range of our breath, accessing this diagnostic tool to better assess tension and pain, while using this powerful tool to release the same tension.
*Learn intentional stretching for muscular release before working these areas, (helping prevent further aggravation), as well as aid in creating greater balanced strength through targeted exercises.
Every-body, has a unique body, so we will do some individualized assessments before, and during the workshop, to help steer us each in the correct direction with the appropriate exercises for your needs.
