FAQ

I’ve never done Yoga before / I’m not flexible – which class should I go to?

Start with one of our “Basics” classes (see class descriptions). Most people are not flexible when they first start out. This is why many of us begin a Yoga posture practice, to maintain or increase our flexibility. You do not have to be flexible to begin yoga. It is YOUR decision to choose which class is best for you – read the descriptions carefully and choose wisely – our Hot Power classes are very vigorous!

I’ve never done Yoga before but I’m in great shape. I’m a runner/dancer/done pilates etc… Do I have to start with Basics?

YES. Yoga is different from other forms of physical activity and it is important that you create a solid foundation by understanding the basics before moving forward. This may mean you only need 1 or 2 basics classes or you may want to stick with Basics for a longer period of time – after doing a basics class (or classes) you can decide when its time to move to a regular class.

Please see our “Class Descriptions” page on our website for information on our different styles of yoga.  Read our class descriptions page carefully to determine which class is appropriate for your level and ability.

Can I just drop-in?

Drop-ins are allowed. Please arrive 15 minutes before class time. We suggest creating an account in our Student Portal.

How do I register for a class? – When does the next session start?

Please follow the instructions for the new processes for pre-registering for classes in the midst of this global pandemic.

What time should I arrive?

Arrive 10-15 minutes ahead of time to ensure your space and give you time to prepare for your yoga practice.  The centres generally open 15 minutes prior to the class start time.  For safety reasons our doors are locked when class begins.

  • They are non-transferable and non-refundable.

What do I wear & what do I have to bring?

Wear clothing that is both mentally and physically comfortable to you. You will sweat in the hot classes and you will get warm during regular classes. Dress accordingly. We do sell ethically manufactured yoga clothing at the studio through Yoga World. Feel free to ask for guidance in purchasing attire that will work for your body.

Please bring water and a small towel (hot classes) as well as a yoga mat. Yoga mats can be rented ($2) & purchased at the centre. Yoga is done in bare-feet (socks if preferred) no footwear is permitted into the yoga room. Water can be purchased at the centre.

Can children do the classes – is there a minimum age requirement?

Yes, we encourage younger students to participate. All students 17 and under pay only $10/class. Here are a few guidelines; the child must be able to hold his/her attention for the duration of the class, parents should not adjust or comment during class as to the child’s execution of yoga postures, parents must accompany those under the age of 13, average age is 10 for girls and 13 for boys but not all children are created equally. Have the child evaluated by the teacher in any of the basic Hatha classes, Gentle Hatha or Yin.

How many people are in the class?

Currently, there is a maximum of 15 students per class to ensure that a 2 meter distancing is maintained. Pre-registration is required.

I have an injury / I have health problems – can I still do yoga?

We recommend consulting with your doctor first. We are not medically trained and cannot by law make recommendations concerning your health conditions/problems. Our classes are designed for people who are in good health. Please let the teacher know ahead of time the nature of your injury and do not move into postures that aggravate your condition. You are the only person who can tell if something’s not working for you or causing you discomfort – honor that! REMEMBER: You are responsible for your health & well-being and you will be required to fill out a waiver form. It is YOUR decision to choose the class that’s best for you, read the descriptions carefully and choose a class that’s appropriate for your level and ability.
