Your core is a vast network of muscles that supports your whole body when called into action. A continuous web of deep fascial and muscular tissue runs from the bottom of your feet up through your pelvis, core, and jaw to the tongue. How do we call this vast network into action? First of all, it’s not just about our abdominals!
The abdominals, along with their team of supporting muscles, make up a large part of our core system. As our centre, the core plays an essential role in how we move, stabilize, and support our bodies.
When we recognize how interconnected we are, we learn how to activate, engage, and incorporate this wonderful system we call our core into every pose and movement in our daily lives.
Core Yoga combines traditional yoga elements with a focused exploration of the core. We’re not simply tightening or bracing; instead, we explore a balanced range of relaxation and engagement to help strengthen and support these amazing muscles. By developing greater core awareness and strength, we can support not only the spine, hips, and pelvic floor, but the body as a whole.
This class welcomes anyone interested in becoming more acquainted with their core and discovering how it can contribute to improved stability, posture, injury prevention, and more functional movement.
