AngelaAngela: My personal yoga practice began in 2010 as a way to deal with the aches and pains of running. While it was the physical aspect that first attracted me, I soon learned that the real gift of yoga was how it calmed my mind and balanced my emotions. After struggling with body-image and disordered eating for years, yoga helped me more than anything else, to be at peace with what I saw in the mirror. Yoga also helped me deal with the stress of being in the military and life as a mom. In 2014, I obtained my 200-hour Hatha Yoga certification. I began teaching yoga through the Youth Services Bureau and CHEO, to at-risk youth and teenagers affected by anxiety and depression. I am also certified through Yoga Warriors International™, which is designed to help those affected by post-traumatic stress and other service-related traumas. After serving 25 years in the military, this is a class very close to my heart. My goal as a teacher is to provide a safe and welcoming space where together we can breathe, move, heal, be present, challenge ourselves…and have some fun! I believe that yoga has something for each of us – all we have to do is show up and be open to receiving it!
“I am blessed with a beautiful family; a loving and supportive husband and three wonderful children. I am also thrilled to be part of the Mountaingoat Yoga family. A centre that is filled with laughter, love and inspiration. My intention is to share the beauty of yoga with my students; to help students discover their physical potential and go beyond their perceived limitations. Come and rediscover that beautiful, powerful individual that you are and walk away with a truly authentic happy smiling face.”
